Plan Termination

Pension plans are volatile and expensive, even if the plan is already “frozen” and no benefits are accruing. Our clients are often surprised to find that it is cheaper to terminate the plan and shift all liability of the plan to an insurance company than it is to keep the plan liability.

Clients with plans that are not “frozen” often see the need for a more relevant retirement benefit to aid in hiring and recruiting. Our analysis helps clients to find a retirement benefit structure with more control for plan participants and more predictable costs for the organization.

Plan termination is a complex process that almost always provides the most savings of any action. We provide end-to-end management of the termination process including participant education, government approvals, election administration, payment processing and management of the annuity purchase.
